Places for People has appointed groundworks contractors to all 13 regional lots under a £246m framework covering England and Scotland.
Coinford Central and RJ McLeod took the widest spread of places, each securing six of the 13 regional lots. M&J Evans Construction and Houlihan & Co each picked up four lots. Other winners include MV Kelly, Erith, Tamdown, O'Halloran & O'Brien and Chasetown Civil Engineering.
In England, the framework runs from the North West to the South West and is broken into geographic blocks. The North West covers Lancashire, Manchester and Merseyside; South and West Yorkshire form a separate lot; and the West Midlands, taking in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, and the East Midlands, taking in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire, each form their own lots. In the south, the South East is divided into a block covering south Surrey, Kent, East and West Sussex and a second covering east Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. The South West has three lots: north Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire; south Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset; and west Bristol, Devon and Somerset.
Three Scottish lots cover the Central Belt and two northern blocks, the first limited to the Aberdeen area and the second with no specified area detail. Central Belt places went to A D Bly Construction, Coinford Central, Dockerill Groundworks, Houlihan & Co, Kingsheath Construction and O'Connell Contracting. The Aberdeen block was awarded to Advance Construction (Scotland), Akela Construction, Andrew Strain Construction, I&H Brown, Keystone Construction Scotland and Stewart Landscapes (Contracts), while the second northern lot went to Chap Group, I&H Brown, JKR Contractors, Nicol of Skene, RJ McLeod and WM Donald.
Greater London is the largest single lot, taken by Coinford Central, Ford Civil Engineering, Fred Champion Groundworks, M&J Evans Construction, Renelec Groundworks and Tithegrove.
Work ranges from site clearance, bulk earthworks and foundations to drainage, utilities, roads, sewers and external works. Scottish packages also extend to house foundations through to completed in-situ concrete floors, plot drainage, retaining wall foundations and ducting for electric vehicle infrastructure.
The Greater London package is valued at around £38m. Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset follow at £30m, with East Anglia and the northern Home Counties accounting for a further £29m — £97m across those three lots.
